Synergy based ads
The ads that will be analyzed in this week’s post will be ones that include both a verbal message and effective visual design to create synergy. When both verbal and visual designs are combined, advertisements can be much more effective.
The Reebok easy tone ad shows a woman with a well-toned body, painting a wall with a paint roller. She is seen painting a dull white colored wall into a bright yellow. The yellow color is seen splashed on her right leg as well. This draws more attention towards her well-toned legs. The square logo on the top left corner of the ad, talks more about the ad. The logo in a blue colored square has YOUR written in bold and Reebok written below it. Reebok gives it brand recognition whereas, YOUR draws attention, giving it a more personalized feel. The Ad says you can customize your shoes. Also, the adage, Women’s East Tone – Better legs and a better butt with every step, gives more information about the toning shoes. The colors in the ad are blue and yellow. Yellow is to attract attention and blue, a subtle way to convey a message. The while color shoes on the left of the ad stands out because not many colors are used in the ad. The ad is a perfect synergy with image of a regular girl painting and the text gaining the attention on what the product is.
The New Balance ad has a very fresh, spring like feel to it. It has a city backdrop, with cars and yellow cabs and paved walkway with flowers. A woman in active wear is seen walking the paved walkway with a cross body bag. The spring like feel, paved walkway and the lady walking with a cross body bag suggest that she is out for a stroll or some work. The adage, why walk when you can tone, tells that the shoes help tone your body, even when you are simply walking or doing your everyday chores. The ad is a synergy of a product that can be seen by the girl wearing it and the text actually conveying the ad. The ad gives detailed information about the truebalance shoe benefits. It mentions that the shoes can help increase muscle activation by up to 29%; calorie burn by up to 10% and the shoes are 100% stylish. The ad gives detailed information about the toning shoes. Many colors are used in the ad, yellow cab, colorful flowers, and girls outfit. Other than cab and flowers, all the colors used in the ad are subtle and doesn’t attract attention. The colors are used to give a look of a regular city girl. The blue color to explain the text stands out and it is the logo of the brand. The ad without the text will be a regular shoes ad but the text about the shoes explains the product.
The Avia shoes ad shows the torso of a woman with a toned chiseled body with ‘walk it off’ written in bold in the center of the ad. The ad gives information about their new avid-motion shoes. Given the current trends, they call it I-burn. I-burn sounds both, personalized and trendy. The ad says that the i-burn technology mimics and like walking, thus promoting toning and muscle activation. It says; one can get fit in avi-motion shoes. The bottom right corner has the Avia logo with Avi-motion logo below it. The colors used in the ad are minimum with white background and blue and orange color for girl’s outfit and brand logo. The color orange attracts attention, and blue color gives confidence.
The Champions shoe ad shows a lady running on the street wearing Champion shoes. Only her legs are seen in the ad. The word ‘stride’ is written next to her feet. The ad, gives description, benefits of the shoe in detail, while identifying each part of the shoe and its mechanisms. The shoe has breathable mesh for comfort and breathability. The air traverse cushioning technology is a patent technology by Champions. Cradle toning bottom too is a patent technology and both these help in extra comfort and toning. Rubble outsole makes the shoes more durable. The champions logo is in white with the adage give your walk a workout. The synergy in the ad with a simple image and text on advantage of the shoes explains the ad. The colors used are white and blue which makes the ad more elegant and simple. The colors used are same as seen in the shoes, blue, gray and white, and it helps in brand recognition.
The Fila body toning ad shows a lady on the terrace of a skyscraper, looking at the skyline. She is seen with her hands held up as if willing to fly. She is seen wearing active wear and has one artificial limb. Unlike other ads, a woman has a healthy toned body but not skinny and chiseled. The ad is very motivating and inspiring and the adage, sexy is a state of mind, even more! The adage in just a few words depicts the entire essence of the ad. The Colors used in the ad are blue and black. The background of the city at night with skyscrapers with lights adds to the brightness of the ad. The ad would not be complete without the text as why the girl is standing in such a position. Fila have intelligently used bold content to convey its message. The blue color stands out in both; the sky in the background and the pants girl are wearing, and it inspires the target market.
